Does anyone out there know of any other Bruce Trail records, for number of times completed, speed completed, walked while juggling, barefoot, etc.
So far I have the Blaze Race (3 days, 23 hours, 10 minutes) as the only non-stop relay run of the trail, as well as the fastest overall time. And Clayton Smith (2005) with the solo speed record in under 15 days.
Has anyone else run the trail end-to-end? I have Ryne Melcher (2006) and Bryan Mason (2005) attempting the run but dropping out. Who has walked it the greatest number of times?
During my barefoot thru-hike in June/July 2009 I met two people, both British ladies who had stated they were end-to-enders. I also have met an end-to-ender (#500) on facebook.
Of course meeting *anyone* on the Bruce Trail was a treat as I spent many days without passing a single person.
I’m not sure if the BTC keeps records on these subjects, as it would be good PR for them.
scott turner run record 14 days
Hey,
I just found your site googling ‘bruce trail end to end record’. I just got into running a few years and completed the TransRockies with a buddy. Recently someone mentioned the Bruce Trail and I wondered if anyone had run it before. I haven’t ready much of your site, are you running it or hiking it? What kind of training did you do and preparation?
I’m running it, but only in short pieces, so the training has not been very intense. I’m just stringing together trail runs to eventually go end-to-end. I started in the spring of 2008 and put the project on hold this year when life got too busy. You can read more about Clayton Smith’s 15-day run of the trail in this article:

A previous commentator also mentioned a 14-day record but I have no details of that. The trail is very rough so I think the best preparation is lots of distance, lots of hills, and lots of trails. There’s a lot of great info on the Blaze Race website:

There is also a link on there to a story I wrote about the race in explore magazine:

Tim,
Why no posts recently?

Trail running dropped down the priority list behind a newborn, 2-3 jobs, courses etc. I’ll be back.

Actually, my dad is the holder of the 14-day record.
14 Days 6 hours and 58 minutes.
He began on September 9th, 1995.
He raised $7,000 running it as a fundraiser for Spinal Cord Research.
His goal was to complete it in 12 days, but on the 6th day he injured himself and could not complete it in the time he intended.
Ultra runner Charlotte Vasarhelyi is en route to breaking the solo record. She started in Tobermory on June 19, and is likely to finish in Queenston today, July 2! 13 full days so far, and 50 km to go.
On July 2 2010, Charlotte Vasarhelyi finished running the Bruce Trail from Tobermory to Niagara in about 13 days, 10 hours, 50something minutes !!!!!
That one may stand for a while !
Check out the facebook link for info on a runner looking to set the new record, and for a good cause too,
